The much anticipated Bloomingdale Trail, or The 606, opened last weekend to massive crowds. Opening Day was actually 6/06! Named The 606 after the first 3 digits of the zip codes in the City of Chicago, the elevated trail reclaims a former railway track in the Bucktown, Humboldt Park and Logan Square neighborhoods for green space. The landmark $95 million project was a decade in the making and now provides 2.7 miles of elevated paved bicycle and walking paths that follow Bloomindale Avenue, which runs east-west at 1800 north, and starts at 1600 west and ends at around 3700 west.
